Fear and Reflection
by Tomas Foley
As the cold draws in each closing day
I know that things will not remain this way
I feel so stange and scared so much
And realise life is not something to clutch
So I enter a sleep with fear of the unknown
The unknown for which will never be shown
I dream of a curse, and feel a great thirst
This lack of fresh water and fear of the worst
The morning comes as I awake
And I realise this day is mine to make
I wish to be responsible for each single mistake
That way I can know this life is not fake
And I find the answer to a choice
How to use the words blessed to my voice
I decide to strive in my life and always to give
So as to support others in their lifetime to live
Colourblind
by Tomas Foley
Life Stories are rarely black or white
In fact I'd say they're dark and bright
They're lined with shades of black and grey
And shining with the colours of a summers day
You can't force people by your image to change
Unless you can see life's colour range
And you must never presume you understand anothers story
Unless you've also shared in their pain and glory
I never wrote this poem to put you down
Or take from you, your education crown
It's just a request to realise the facts
You can't paste with sympathy lifes damaged cracks
You can only come down from your presumptious throne
Listen and speak to people in a common tone
Open your home, your heart and offer your love
Because you'll never see true colours from that place above
Cloud 9
by Tomas Foley
I dream of a love, so perfect, so true
A dream that fills up with images of you
I feel this embarrasment and begin to run
Stopped and prevented by your blanket of fun
We look out at a view so clear to see
A fall so far, a feeling so free
We start our run upon cloud nine
Above all the clocks with their hourly chime
Sailing with feet that float like a feather
Leaping rainbows and stars together
With cloud nine far beneath our wings
Held up by all the kings and queens
So as we chase a shooting star
I realise I have travelled too far
For this is a dream I never chose
Forced to kiss you goodnight,
As the dream world comes to it's close
